3D Modeling: Environment Art with Autodesk Maya
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner - Advanced
PATH: Design, Game Dev
PREREQUISITE: Ability to work as part of a team
TOOLS: Unreal Engine 4, Autodesk Maya
Launch your career as an environment artist as you build a game prototype with a team of your fellow students. Learn the full development cycle of production as you work together to turn your ideas into a playable game.
In week one, learn to model 3D assets using Autodesk Maya. Create highly detailed scenery, furniture, and machines to build out your game environment. Use UV unwrapping and texture models to enhance the look and feel of the world your players inhabit. Finish the week with game design theory as you brainstorm how to establish a consistent art style and scope your projects.
In week two, dig into your role and launch an indie studio with your team to create your combined vision. Learn how to organize your tasks and collaborate effectively. Design your environments with hand-drawn or digital concept art and refine your modeling techniques as you prepare to show off your work at the end of the week.
