Study History at Oxford next summer

History
History school

Contrary to popular belief, the study of History is not about facts and dates from key moments of the past. Instead it concerns itself with the analysis of political, cultural, social and economic structures of the past.

The question ’why did it happen’ not ‘what happened’. Our History course introduces students to this style of thinking as well as the main theoretical challenges of studying history.

Classes focus around the central theme of ‘late medieval and Early Modern Princely Courts’ to explore historiographical debate as well as research techniques and pertinent considerations for source analysis. This ensures that students are intellectually challenged and well-prepared for their University careers.

PREVIOUS AREAS OF STUDY INCLUDE:

Civic and Social Functions of the Court, and it’s Regional and International Engagements: Explore developments in early court rooms and regional powers to international center of power.

Military Treaties and Court Patronage: Assess the significance of military engineering and power at court.

Noble Power, the European Court and Historiography: Analyse the cultural behaviours at court and the manipulative strategies employed to develop and influence.
